Louisiana Families First is committed to protecting your privacy and safety of your information that is collected in the use of this website, (“the website”) and any other website or service that we operate:

We may collect the following kinds of information when you sign up to our mailing list, volunteer, donate online or participate in any other activity that PL+US organizes or is in involved with:

  • Name

  • Mailing Address (including ZIP and State)

  • Email address

  • Billing Information (excluding credit card information)

This privacy policy applies to transactions and activities in which you engage and data gathered only on the Site.

How We Use Your Personal Information

We do not use, sell, distribute or lease your personal information to any third party or unaffiliated groups without your explicit permission, or with any companies for marketing purposes. Information you share with us will be held in a secure and private manner. We may share your personal information with the following affiliated groups:

  • Third Party service providers that perform services on our behalf, including but not limited to website analytics, email distribution, content management.

  • Third parties, including Facebook, may use cookies, web beacons, and other storage technologies to collect or receive information from the Louisiana Families First website and elsewhere on the internet and use that information to provide measurement services and target ads. Users may opt-out of the collection and use of information for ad targeting at

  • Third Party Administrators, such as organizations we engage to facilitate large distribution of messages. The content of these emails will be from Louisiana Families First. Third parties will not have access to personally identifiable information.

  • Legislators, media, news publications, other targets and the general public when you sign petitions, participate in surveys or register to volunteer with Louisiana Families First.

Sharing of Information Between PL+US Fund: Paid Leave for the United States and PL+US Action

PL+US Fund: Paid Leave for the United States is an organization that is organized and operated for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (“Code”) including but not limited to researching the concept and impact of paid family and medical leave on individuals and the broader community in the United States.

PL+US Action is an organization that is organized and operated for social welfare purposes within the meaning of Code section 501(c)(4) including but not limited to improving the system of paid family leave offered in the United States and lobbying for and supporting legislation

PL+US Fund and PL+US Action are separate organizations - that have agreed it is in their mutual best interests to share a variety of personnel, facilities, goods and services. As such, when you provide your personal information to PL+US Fund, it will be shared with PL+US Action. If it is, PL+US Action will comply with this same Privacy Policy with respect to your personal information, and all references here to PL+US Fund may be deemed to refer also to PL+US Action. 

Security of Your Information

Our website has security measures to protect against loss, misuse or alteration of your personal information. We use SSL Certificates with encryption to protect the transmission of your personal information.

If you choose to make a donation to PL+US Fund, your credit card information will be used only for this transaction through our secure online payment system.  Online credit card transactions are processed through Merchant Services. We do not store your credit card information at any time. 

PL+US Fund is not responsible for any lost, stolen or compromised personal information (including passwords) for activity on your account via unauthorized password activity.

Surveys, Petitions and Other Digital Campaigns

For surveys, petitions and other campaigns that you’ve signed or completed, your name, city, state, and comments are treated as public information, which can be made available to the press and public online, unless you advise us otherwise. Your email address or phone number will not be disclosed without your permission. We will not make your street address publicly available, but pursuant to standard industry practice, it may be remitted to Members of Congress and the President as part of a petition. 

Phone Campaigns

From time to time, the PL+US staff members or  PL+US volunteers may contact you by telephone or SMS about urgent campaigns. If you have provided your telephone number to us through our website then you may be contacted by one of our volunteers or staff members (each of whom are bound by the terms of the PL+US privacy policy and will not use your personal information for any other purpose). If you would like to be removed permanently from our phone list, please contact us here ( with the subject line "UNSUBSCRIBE PHONE NUMBER". Please allow 8-10 business days for your information to be removed. 

Data Tracking

We may also use third-party services such as Google Analytics to assist in understanding and tracking the use of our website, and to be aware of any problems with our website. 

URLs contained in emails may contain an ID that enables us to correctly identify the person who takes an action using a web page. We use these URLs to simplify the process of signing petitions and filling out surveys. 

Links to Other Websites

Where PL+US Fund provide links to third party websites, and other websites provide links to our website, third party websites operate according to their own terms of use and privacy policies. PL+US Fund is not responsible for the terms, policies and use of third party sites. We are not responsible or liable for any content, advertising, products or other materials on or available from such sites.

PL+US Fund will not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with use of or reliance on any content, advertising, products, or other materials on or available from such sites.

Policy Changes

This Privacy Policy is subject to change. We encourage users of this website to review the Privacy Policy periodically. This policy was last revised on 20 May 2016. Any changes or additions made to our Privacy Policy will be posted here and you will be notified via email, so that you are always aware of the information we collect, how it is used and your choices.

Modifying or Deleting Your Personal Information

PL+US Fund will send you updates by email. You can remove yourself from the emailing list at any time.  If at any time you would like to unsubscribe from our email list, you may do so by emailing it may take up to three (3) business days for us to process unsubscribe requests and to request that any personal information we possess is deleted.
